Our senior classes had a fantastic time today in Microsoft Dreamspace, as part of Engineers Week 2019. Shrove Tuesday 2019

Primary Planet Quiz

Each month 5th and 6th class get a new edition of the Primary Planet Magazine. This magazine is filled with local, national and worldwide news, as well as the latest technological advancements around the world. At the end of each month, we have a quiz based on the information in that month's edition. The questions on today's quiz ranged from the president of Venezuela to the advancements in electric cars around the world.

Learing How to Code

Over the last number of weeks the senior classes in our school have been learning how to code using BBC microbits. The children have enjoyed tackling the different challenges set out by their class teachers. All of the tasks have involved a great deal of teamwork and perseverance. New School Water Bottles

All of the pupils and teachers in St. Brigid's National School are working very hard to receive our third green flag, based on the theme of water. As part of this work, we're trying to cut down on the amount of plastic waste in the school. This week we were lucky enough to receive our very own reusable water bottles. This is another positive step in the right direction of securing our third green flag.

A Visit from an Author

The senior classes in our school had a very special visitor today. Colm McElwain, who is a local children's book author came and spoke about his new James Clyde book. Colm shared many tips on how to approach creative writing and making writing fun and interesting. The boys and girls got the opportunity to ask him lots of different questions about his books and how he became an author. Many thanks Colm for your visit!

Grandparents Day 2019

All of the classes in St. Brigid's National School were busy this week preparing for Grandparents Day, which we celebrated as part of Catholic's Schools Week. Each class created some lovely artwork showing their appreciation for their grandparents. We held a prayer service on Wednesday in celebration of this special day and we had a question and answer session afterwards with some of the grandparents.
