Trick or TREAT

Ms. Tierney’s class had great fun making some yummy Hallowe’en treats this week.

The class has kindly shared the recipe for Oreo Spiders and Pumpkin Rice Krispies below.

Oreo Spiders

Ingredients:

  • Oreos
  • Snakes
  • Honey
  • Smarties

Equipment:

  • Microwave
  • Serving tray
  • Kitchen roll

Method:

  • Heat oreo in microwave for 10-20 seconds.
  • Gently remove top part of the oreo and put snakes inside for the legs.
  • Put the two pieces of oreo back together again.
  • Put 2 small plops of honey on the oreo to glue down the smarties for the eyes.
  • Gobble up.

* Tip: If the oreo breaks, use some honey to glue it back together (adds extra sweetness).

Pumpkin Rice Krispies

Ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Marshmallows
  • Food dye (orange/ red and yellow)
  • Rice krispies
  • Chocolate fingers
  • Green jelly beans
  • Chocolate chips

Equipment:

  • Microwave
  • 2 bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spoon
  • Butter knife
  • Kitchen roll (this could get messy!)
  • Bun cases
  • Hallow’een sticks
  • Fridge
  • Serving tray

Method:

  • Using a knife, put a dollop of butter into a bowl and melt it in microwave for 15 seconds.
  • Add some marshmallows and melt in microwave for 20-30 seconds.
  • Whisk the mixture until it is complete smooth.
  • Add some food dye to make it orange.
  • Add rice krispies and mix it altogether.
  • Melt some more butter and put it on your hands to grease them.
  • With a spoon, dish out some of the mixture onto your hands.
  • Round it into the shape of a pumpkin.
  • Add a chocolate finger for the pumpkin’s stalk, 2 green jelly beans for the leaves and 2 chocolate chips for eyes.
  • Put it into a bun case.
  • Refrigerate for a while.
  • Gobble up.
